Cape Jervis House

Maximising panoramic sea and rural hills views to the north, and providing protection from strong southerly winds, determined the form of this simple holiday house.

An angular wall panel of corrugated iron, a wide sharp eaves overhang and a cantilevered concrete floor add dynamic quality to a modest structure.

Although a holiday house the simple arrangement of rooms and extension of indoor spaces to outside, provide a model for sensible economical housing. Energy usage is minimal, with efficient passive design and solar water heating. No summer air conditioning is required, and wood for winter heating is grown on site.
